HISTORY:Let's see, a lot has happened since graduation. I'll try to be as thorough and concise as possible to sum up the last 18 years...after graduating, I left Hawaii to set out and start a career as an officer in the Army by attending a military Jr. college in Misssouri, but that didn't work out the way I wanted, so I quit after a year of school. I then returned to Hawaii and moved to the Salt Lake area. I started working for Sears at Ala Moana and at Bank of Hawaii in Kalihi (across from Kalihi Kai). Tried that for about 2 years and due to some personal issues decided Hawaii was not where I needed to be, so I joined the Air Force (~1993).
My first assignment was Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA (centrally located between Sacramento & SF). While there, I worked as a Communications-Computer Systems Planning & Implementation Specialist (long title for Communications Project Manager). I spent my entire 9 year career there, as a result I established roots here in Sacramento, which is why I opted to separate from active duty in 2002. However, before doing so, I did meet my wife while there. We met in 1999 and were wed in 2003, and as you can clearly see from the photo above, our marriage has yielded the handsomest fruit, Christopher Michael. Anyway, after I separated from active duty I needed something to do, so I joined the Air National Guard and cross-trained into an IT infrastructure vocation. Can't say that I like it, because I don't, but it did open some doors for me. I was able to get a job at Beale Air Force Base working as project manager, but after about 18 months at Beale, I left to start another job as an Air Force civilian working at a little known Air Force base named after one of Hawaii's own, Onizuka Air Force Station in Sunnyvale, CA. This was 3 years ago (2004) and I have been working here ever since.
I still live in Sacramento and I make the commute 4 days a week to Sunnyvale. Not sure how much longer I'll be here because our installation is scheduled to close, so the government will be relocating me. I could wind up at another Air Force base in the Santa Barbara, CA area (Vandenberg AFB), but I am looking into opportunities that could take me to San Diego or even back to Hawaii. For now I am content on where I am now.
